##What makes your project unique? Sports + Gaming: Even though gaming as an industry is expanding, the shelf life of even successful games is shrinking. On the other hand, sports as a form of entertainment has stood the test of time and continues to attract masses and high engagement like nothing else. Merging the genres of sports and gaming would not just attract passionate fanbases of sports but also extend the shelf life of games and products sustainably.

Global Reach by Expanding to Other Sports: With a focus on cricket initially (2.5B global viewership), Bowled aims to expand to other major sports, such as MMA, soccer, basketball, F1 and tennis, catering to diverse yet engaged audiences worldwide, including underserved and untapped markets.

IP-Backed Products: Collaborations with IP-holders allow Bowled to tap into the fan base directly and ensure exclusive content by launching IP-backed assets, products, and platforms. ##What is your project’s revenue stream? Overall monetization strategy is volume-based. A low barrier to entry will allow user acquisition in high volumes, which suits a low LTV subcontinent audience. Based on our research and observations of selling in subcontinental markets, we’re aiming for the following 4 core revenue streams.

Ownership of digital assets (Avatars, player cards, consumables for improved in-game performance.) Fee revenue via Marketplace transactions, platform commission on staked matches, and premium content. In-app ad revenue, sponsorship, and brand integrations. Userbase monetisation by converting web2 ‘users’ into web3 ‘active wallets’ with a revenue share on wallet creation and transactions.

Efforts to support stable monetization -

Airdrop of entry-level NFTs ( Selling price between 1$-10$) to new users, with a user journey involving upgrading & upskilling to monetize such assets properly. This is aimed at giving most users a taste of actual ownership of an in-game asset, prompting a change in notion from “expenditure” to “investment”. While the core gameplay remains F2P, user behaviour in an ecosystem where they interact with other users who play and trade with real money daily encourages F2P audiences to try their hands on the same, driving larger paying audiences, albeit with slightly lesser LTV.

Bowled has created an integrated product and marketing strategy to primarily lead with product-led growth. They’ve created thoughtful and intricate user journeys, loops and other mechanisms to drive growth. Here’s a breakdown of their growth strategy:

Product and Partnerships-Led Growth

Their partnerships with IP holders, gaming guilds, and communities such as Axie Infinity, Earn Alliance, YGG and more enable access to 10 million+ web3 gamers and passionate sports fans. The free-to-play, play-and-earn hypercasual games help them acquire customers at low cost and other modules, such as mid-core strategy and fantasy games, where users make an investment, increase the conversion rate and LTV. They’ve created a referral system with attractive rewards, daily quests, user journeys, push notifications, and a reward system to ensure growth in user base, high engagement and retention.

Marketing-Led Growth

They’ve launched multiple community programs, such as the Campus Captains Program, which helped us reach audiences online and offline in masses, the BYOG (Build Your Own Game) Program, the Build With Bowled Program, AMAs and the Bowled Beta Testers Program, which resulted in organic growth. Platform: Java and Spring Boot serve as the foundation for building robust and scalable microservices. Spring Boot provides a framework that simplifies the development of Java-based applications. Game Backends: Multiple technologies are used for game backends, including Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, and Python. Each technology may be chosen based on the specific requirements of the game backend services, such as performance, scalability, or ease of development. WebApp: The frontend of the system is built using React, a popular JavaScript library for building user interfaces. React enables the creation of interactive and responsive web applications. Mobile Apps: Android and iOS mobile apps are developed to provide a seamless user experience on mobile devices. These apps may be built using native development tools or frameworks like React Native, which allows for cross-platform development using JavaScript. Communication System: Apache Pulsar is used as the communication system for the microservices ecosystem. Pulsar provides a scalable and durable messaging platform that supports pub-sub messaging patterns, enabling efficient communication between microservices. Blockchain: Binance Chain currently powers the unified economy with its BEP20 standard being used to mint the BWLD token. The bowled wallet, powered by Binance, is another important aspect of the platform. We’ll integrate our platforms with the Ronin ecosystem in the near future and use their blockchain, wallet and marketplace.
